Hyundai has unveiled in South Korea a new version of its compact crossover Casper - Casper Electric Cross. The new version has a number of original design elements emphasising off-road style.

The Casper Electric Cross differs from the standard version with silver bumper covers, black plastic body cladding on the sides of the body, new 17-inch wheels and a pixelated rear bumper design. Exterior changes also include fully LED headlights as standard, roof rails, an exclusive matte green body colour and updated tail light graphics. The interior is designed in a two-tone combination where the lower part of the seats are matched with the body colour.

The electric crossover is equipped with a 49 kW⋅h battery pack that provides a range of 285 kilometres according to the Korean certification standard. Charging the battery from 10% to 80% takes about 30 minutes. By comparison, the regular Casper Electric with 15-inch wheels travels up to 315 kilometres on a single charge. The European version of the base model, designated Inster, has a range of up to 370 kilometres on the WLTP cycle.

The Casper Electric Cross gets a 113 hp (83 kW) electric motor versus 95 hp (70 kW) in the standard Casper Electric. Torque remains unchanged - 147 N⋅m. Dynamic characteristics are not specified, but the European Inster Long Range accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.6 seconds, and the top speed is 150 km/h.

Sales of the Hyundai Casper Electric Cross will start in South Korea with prices starting at 31.9 million won or about $22,000 at current exchange rates.
