Mayon is most likely a reference to the Mayon volcano in the Philippines. The name fits perfectly with Bentley's concept, as the first Bentayga crossover is named after the Roque Bentayga rock in the Canary Islands. Given that Mayon is an active volcano, the name may hint at the "explosive" dynamics of the electric powertrain.
Barnato is the surname of Woolf Barnato, one of the legendary 'Bentley Boys' of the 1920s, a three-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and an investor who saved Bentley in difficult times. The name hints at the historic sporting spirit of the brand.
Which name wins - Mayon or Barnato - we'll find out closer to the official debut.
At the moment it is known that the new electric crossover Bentley should be presented in 2026. It will be a car with a body length of less than 5 metres to make it easier to manoeuvre in car parks in European cities. This model will not have a petrol version and its character will be more dynamic than the older Bentayga.
