Volkswagen has unveiled a concept of a compact and low-cost electric car - ID. EVERY1. This is a precursor to a new "people's car", which will enter the assembly line in 2027.

The serial version of the ID. EVERY1 is scheduled to be launched in 2027 with a starting price of around €20,000. This is 5,000 euros less than the starting price of the VW electric car ID. 2all, which will debut as early as 2026. Both models are part of a new family of front-wheel-drive electric city cars. They are all based on the modular MEB platform.

Volkswagen is positioning the new ID. EVERY1 as the successor to the VW Up! which was produced until 2023. The entry-level electric car is being built in and for Europe.

Volkswagen says the production version of the ID. EVERY1 will utilise a fundamentally new software architecture. This means that the future entry-level electric car will be able to receive new features throughout its lifecycle.

Interior ID. Every1 features a simple design with a large touchscreen display in the centre. Notably, beneath it are physical buttons for temperature, heating and volume control. The front passenger has access to a changeable multi-purpose panel to which various items such as a tablet or shelf can be attached. A removable Bluetooth speaker is located between the driver and passenger.

Volkswagen ID features. EVERY1:

  • Top speed - 130 km/h;
  • Front-wheel drive;
  • Engine power - 70 kW (95 hp);
  • Range - 250 kilometres.

With a length of 3,880 mm ID. EVERY1 is positioned between the former up! (3600 mm), the ID. 2all (4050 mm) and the current Polo (4074 mm). It is a four-seater and the boot volume is 305 litres.

As for Volkswagen's other plans, the German brand will unveil the next member of its electric city car family, the crossover ID. 2X, in the autumn of this year. This will most likely happen at the Munich Motor Show.
