The company Mercedes-Benz has published a teaser of the new electric GLC without camouflage. The compact SUV will feature a radical "grille" like the classic models of the brand, but reinterpreted in a futuristic style.

Although electric vehicles do not require the same intense cooling as internal combustion engine cars, the electric GLC (effectively the successor to the EQC) will feature one of the most expressive grilles in the brand’s history. The wide frame with chrome trim and glass insert with a mesh pattern sharply contrasts with the minimalist design of the current EQE and EQS models.

Buyers will have to pay extra for maximum visual effect - the options package includes 942 light points, animation when the driver approaches, backlighting of the emblem with a three-pointed star and the entire panel around it.

This bold appearance is not just a design experiment. Mercedes design chief Gordon Wagener emphasized that it’s about a new visual code for the brand. According to Mercedes CEO Ola Källenius, the bright style will help the company stand out amidst many Chinese automakers who are increasingly entering the global market.

The first to be sold will be the GLC 400 4Matic version with EQ technology. Full specifications have not yet been disclosed, but it is already known that the crossover will support fast charging with a power of over 320 kW. This will allow for a 10-minute charge to boost the range by approximately 260 km. The model is built on an 800-volt architecture, backward compatible with 400-volt charging stations.

The new GLC will not only be the successor to the EQC, but also the visual flagship of the entire Mercedes-EQ lineup, setting the style for future models. Judging by the teaser and initial statements, Mercedes aims to regain its image as the "dream car" - now in the electrified era.

The full debut of the model will take place in September at the Munich Auto Show (IAA Mobility 2025).
