The U.S. Air Force intends to acquire two Tesla Cybertrucks. The electric pickups are intended to be made targets for testing precision weapons.

According to The War Zone, the U.S. Air Force Test Center (AFTC) has issued a request to acquire 33 vehicles intended for testing at the White Sands missile range (New Mexico). The list includes sedans, pickups, crossovers, and even vans, but only two items specify a particular brand and model - Tesla Cybertruck.

The documentation explains why the military needs these specific vehicles:

"[redacted] intends to use specific Tesla vehicles for testing in preparation for combat operations. In real conflict conditions, the enemy may use Tesla Cybertrucks, as observations have shown that they do not sustain the expected level of damage during serious collisions. It is necessary to model scenarios as close to reality as possible."

The military wants to ensure that their precision weapons can hit targets like the Cybertruck, even considering their unusual durability.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has previously stated that the Cybertruck is "bulletproof" and "capable of surviving the apocalypse." He has also hinted multiple times that the electric pickup is suitable for military tasks and even offered it to American troops. However, it seems that the initial military supply will be limited to the role of targets.
