Vice President of the N Management Group Joon Park told Autoexpress magazine that vehicles with combustion engines will be more agile, nimble, and interesting compared to the conventional versions of Hyundai models.
The flagship of the new range will be the Tucson N with a hybrid powertrain of about 300 hp. Details are still scarce, but rumors suggest that this crossover could have an additional electric motor in the rear and all-wheel drive. Under the hood, a 1.6-liter gasoline engine is expected.
According to Park, the hybrid systems in the "charged" Hyundai models will not be focused on efficiency but on maximum performance.
The Tucson will only be the first step in transitioning from N to hybrid technology. In the future, "charged" versions of the Kona as well as electrified i20 and i30 with compact batteries are planned.
