The full power of the VW ID.3 Pro can be unlocked in two ways: one-time for 629 euros or by subscription for 18.90 euros per month. These are prices for Germany. In the case of a one-time payment, the power increase remains with the car forever, even after resale. However, if the monthly subscription is canceled, the power limiter returns to 150 kW.
Technically, the upgrade became possible after the modernization of the ID.3 in May 2025: in the Pro S version with a 77 kWh battery, the power increased to 170 kW, while the Pro with the 59 kWh battery retained the former 150 kW. But the engines are identical - APP310 with a torque of 310 Nm. Now in countries where the Pro was still offered in the 150 kW version, owners can receive the same performance as the Pro S. However, only with software version 3.2.1 or higher and through the VW Connect Store.
The characteristics after the upgrade remain almost unchanged: the WLTP range (434 km) and top speed (160 km/h) will remain the same. The difference is only noticeable in acceleration - instead of 7.6 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h, it can approach 7.1 seconds, just like the more powerful version.
Interestingly, the price of the ID.3 is not affected: the ID.3 Pro with a 59 kWh battery starts from 32,925 euros, while the Pro S (77 kWh and 170 kW) starts from 40,525 euros. So even with the additional cost for power, the "younger" ID.3 is still significantly cheaper.
"Performance Upgrade" is not the only feature that can be installed on the ID.3 or other ID models. Depending on the model, navigation costs from 23 euros per month, "Light Assist" for high beam control costs from 4.50 euros per month, and adaptive cruise control ACC costs 9.50 euros per month, and these are just a few examples.
Unlimited activation is also possible for a one-time payment, even if the car was not ordered with this feature, which is interesting for the used car market. For example, if a new owner wants to activate ACC or ambient interior lighting (1.50 euros per month or 59 euros one-time), even though the first owner did not order these features.
