The Brazilian GWM plant is capable of producing cars with diesel engines, hybrid and plug-in hybrid systems. The starting lineup includes three models with ICE: a seven-seater diesel SUV Haval H9, a crossover Haval H6, and a Poer P30 pickup with a diesel engine.
The enterprise is located on the former Daimler site, which GWM purchased in 2021. Initially, the company promised to produce up to 100 thousand cars a year and create 2000 jobs. Later, the launch timelines were shifted to mid-2025, capacities were reduced to 20–50 thousand cars per year, and the number of jobs was cut in half.
GWM emphasizes that this is already the third full-format factory of the brand outside of China. It is intended to serve not only the Brazilian market but also all of Latin America, as well as become a “key hub connecting Europe, Asia, Southeast Asia, and Latin America.” The opening ceremony was attended by Brazilian President Lula da Silva.
GWM has been operating in Brazil since 2021 and during this time has reached a sales figure of 29 thousand cars per year, ranking 14th in the market in 2024. In the first half of 2025, sales exceeded 15.7 thousand units — 19.8% more than the previous year and 17 percentage points above the average market growth.
