J.D. Power has published the Seat Quality and Satisfaction Study for 2025, which identifies the cars on the US market with the best seats — from Subaru Impreza to Porsche 911.

Typically, surveys of car owners revolve around engine power, electric car charging times, or the stability of Apple CarPlay. But the "J.D. Power 2025 U.S. Seat Quality and Satisfaction" study focuses on what drivers encounter every day — seats. And while some models have improved compared to last year, the overall number of complaints about headrests, side support, and complicated adjustment controls has increased.

The segment leaders turned out to be diverse. Among compact cars, Subaru Impreza and Toyota Corolla stood out. In the mid-size and full-size sedan class, Hyundai Sonata and Kia K5 won, proving that you don’t have to go premium for comfort.

In the SUV category, Kia Telluride and Chevrolet Traverse came out on top, while Ford Bronco Sport claimed first place among compact crossovers.

Premium brands confirmed their reputation: BMW Z4, Porsche 911, and Audi A5 received high ratings, showing that an extra cost can enhance comfort, at least for the back.

The J.D. Power study highlights that seats are one of the key factors determining overall satisfaction with a vehicle. And if a manufacturer gets this wrong, it tarnishes the reputation of the entire model.
