Volvo announced the start of production of the fully electric ES90 for European markets. The cars are being assembled at the company's factory in Chengdu, China.
The sales of the Volvo ES90 are expected to start "later this year". After its European debut, the electric model will also appear in a number of key countries in the Asia-Pacific region, although the company does not specify which ones.
ES90 is positioned as a "car for all occasions" – combining the elegance of a sedan and the practicality of a liftback with increased ground clearance typical of SUVs.

The Volvo ES90 is built on the electric SPA2 platform, which is also used by the EX90 SUV. The model will be available in three versions:
- Single Motor (rear-wheel drive, 245 hp, 92 kWh battery, WLTP range - 640 km)
- Twin Motor (all-wheel drive, 442 hp, 92 kWh battery, range 700 km)
- Twin Motor Performance (all-wheel drive, 670 hp, 92 kWh battery, range 700 km)
Thanks to the 800-volt architecture, at 350 kW charging stations, the ES90 can be charged for 300 km in just 10 minutes.
