The popular Renault hatchback has undergone a generational change, receiving completely new body panels while retaining the CMF-B platform. The new model will be available with petrol and hybrid engines, but there will be no widespread diesel versions as in previous years.

Renault emphasizes that the design of the new Clio shares common motifs with the Emblème concept, although one can catch flashes of Ford and Mazda in the profile and rear. The boot volume has not increased, but the loading level has become lower. Compared to the previous iteration of the Clio, the body has grown by 67 mm (to 4,116 mm), is slightly wider and taller, and the wheelbase has only increased by 8 mm.

Inside, the Clio is closer to the Renault 5 EV: in high-end versions, the driver and multimedia screen is unified, while in the base version, a separate touchscreen is provided. Both options support Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Google services, and top versions like the Esprit Alpine are complemented by wireless charging and Alcantara upholstery. The options list includes a 410 W Harman Kardon sound system tuned with the participation of French composer Jean-Michel Jarre.

There will be no electric modification at the start of sales. For that, there is the Renault 5, although the Clio EV is already in development. For now, the range includes petrol hybrids.

The 1.8L E-Tech with 160 hp can cover up to 80% of urban routes on electric drive. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.3 seconds, one second faster than the previous hybrid. The second engine for Europe is a 1.2L turbo engine TCe with 115 hp, available in combination with either a manual transmission or a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission. A 120-hp Eco-G engine that runs on gas (LPG) will also be offered.

The possible equipment list includes 29 electronic assistants, including an emergency stop system, adaptive cruise control, and a "safety rating" with driving style tips. A special My Safety Switch button allows the simultaneous disabling of up to five systems.

The new Clio will go on sale by the end of 2025 in Evolution, Techno, and Esprit Alpine versions. Prices have not yet been announced, but are expected to start below €20,000.
