The electric pickup confidently passed the tough crash tests of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and confirmed a high level of passenger protection. However, problematic headlights and barely noticeable seatbelt reminders prevented it from claiming the prestigious title of Top Safety Pick.

Cybertruck received a "good" rating in the updated front crash test with partial overlap. The dummy in the driver’s seat faced minimal risk of head, chest, and leg injuries, while the rear passenger only exhibited a moderate risk of chest injury. In the collision avoidance system tests, the Cybertruck also performed excellently: the electric pickup avoided all emergency scenarios both day and night, including situations with a moving obstacle approaching the vehicle.

The main weakness is the lighting system. According to IIHS, the headlights create excessive glare and leave "blind spots" to the left during a left turn. The right side of the road is notably better illuminated, resulting in uneven lighting.

In the latest test series, six more electric models participated. The BMW i4, Chevrolet Blazer EV, and Volkswagen ID.Buzz also received a "good" rating, while the Tesla Model 3 was limited to "acceptable," and the Ford F-150 Lightning and Nissan Ariya failed the tests, showing a high risk of injury for rear passengers.

Due to strict lighting requirements and enhanced standards, none of the tested electric vehicles received the highest IIHS awards. Currently, among electric pickups, the Rivian R1T leads in safety, earning the top title of Top Safety Pick+ in 2024.
