Externally, the Essential is indistinguishable from the standard N version. It features a full aerodynamic body kit, fully LED lights, and 21-inch forged wheels. The interior also mirrors the original with two 12.3-inch displays, sports seats, a leather steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, and an 8-speaker Bose sound system.
The Essential is trimmed down in minor conveniences: it lacks a head-up display, wireless charging, and a V2L socket for powering external devices. Also excluded are the digital key, electric rear window lifts with safety features, and an intelligent lighting system. The driver assistance package has been simplified but remains quite rich for daily use.
The technical base of the Ioniq 5 N remains unchanged. Two electric motors produce a total of 601 hp, with a limited-slip differential on the rear axle, and the battery capacity is 84 kWh. Additionally, the sporty crossover retains all the functions that make it special: N e-Shift, N Launch Control, N Pedal, N Drift Optimizer Pro, N Torque Distribution, and N Active Sound+.
Hyundai Ioniq 5 N Essential
How much does the more affordable N version cost? Considering local incentives, the Essential will cost 74,900,000 won (53,700 USD) compared to 77,400,000 won (55,500 USD) for the regular version. The savings amount to 2,500,000 won (1,800 USD). For comparison, the only American configuration of the Ioniq 5 N starts at 66,200 USD.
The N lineup from the Korean brand is expected to expand with electric and gasoline models. Following the recent debut of the Ioniq 6 N sedan, Hyundai has confirmed the development of a compact hot hatch, the Ioniq 3 N, and a new generation i20 N with a hybrid powertrain.
