The updated Volvo EX90 features an 800-volt architecture instead of 400 volts in the previous version of the model. Volvo points to faster charging, reduced heat generation during charging, and increased process efficiency. This is also influenced by its own battery management software. Now, using a compatible charging station, you can add up to 250 km of range in 10 minutes.
Among the new features are: warnings about slippery roads, hazards, and accidents ahead, as well as the integration of an automatic emergency call with the Emergency Stop Assist (ESA) system.
ESA is designed for a controlled stop of the vehicle in its lane if the driver does not respond to attentiveness warnings or has no hands on the steering wheel, for example, due to sudden illness. After stopping, the new emergency call function will automatically connect the car with the Volvo Cars emergency call center, which can communicate with passengers and, if necessary, call response services.
Other innovations include an enhanced automatic emergency steering feature at night and a Park Pilot assistant for parallel parking.
Thanks to the transition to a main computer with two NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin processors, the EX90 now has a computing power of 500 TOPS (trillions of operations per second), allowing Volvo Cars to further enhance safety and performance through data, software, and AI.
The upgrade is not limited to the new EX90: owners of the 2025 model will receive a one-time free core computer update during a scheduled visit to a Volvo service center.
Additionally, the EX90 features an electrochromatic panoramic roof, first introduced on the recently launched Volvo ES90. You can change the degree of tint of the glass with the push of a button.
