According to Czech media reports, Škoda Auto will begin phasing out production of the MQ 200 manual transmission in November. Following this, European models with internal combustion engines will only be available with automatic transmission.

The Škoda Trade Unionist, the newspaper of the Škoda Auto workers' union, reported that the company plans to stop producing five- and six-speed DQ 200 manual gearboxes. These gearboxes are installed in Škoda cars, as well as in models from other Volkswagen Group brands.

Last year Škoda Auto produced a total of over a million gearboxes, almost 355,000 of which were manual MQ 200, and nearly 711,000 were automatic DQ 200 (DSG 7) with dual-clutch. In June last year, the plant in Mladá Boleslav released the nine-millionth unit of the MQ 200 gearbox.

Exact dates are not yet known. However, it is reported that the production volumes of the MQ 200 at the Mladá Boleslav plant will decrease already in November, and in January 2026, the third (night) shift will be discontinued. According to sources, the Czech brand plans to transfer employees who are still producing manual gearboxes at the central plant to the production of electric transmissions.

Meanwhile, the situation in Vrchlabí, where the DQ 200 gearboxes are produced, is stable, and the production volume is at a record high level.
