Mazda presented a new concept car Vision X-Coupe at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, in which the electric power unit is assisted by a rotary turbo engine.

Vision X-Coupe demonstrates the development of the "KODO - Soul of Motion" design idea. It is equipped with a plug-in hybrid system that combines a rotary turbo engine with an electric motor and a battery.

The maximum system power is 510 hp. Moreover, the electric motor mode range reaches 160 km, and when operating from the rotary engine, it increases to 800 km.

Besides, thanks to the combination of carbon-neutral fuel derived from algae and the proprietary CO2 capture technology "Mazda Mobile Carbon Capture," the car helps reduce CO2 emissions into the atmosphere as driving time increases.

Mazda already uses a rotary-electric powertrain in the MX-30 crossover and previously stated that it plans to launch the 370 hp two-door Iconic SP coupe with similar technology into production.

However, unlike the mid-engine SP, in this new four-door concept, the engine is mounted at the front, under a long hood.

The length of the Vision X-Coupe is 5.05 meters, and the wheelbase is 3.08 meters.
