Renault has unveiled the new Twingo E-Tech electric vehicle. Although images of the model leaked online a few days before the presentation, more details about it are now known, including specifications.

The design of the new Twingo resembles the first generation of the 1992 model. It is compact (only 3.79 meters long), designed exclusively for city traffic, and has a cute look thanks to the original design of the daytime running lights at the front.

The Twingo is front-wheel drive. The power of the permanent magnet motor is 60 kW (81 hp), and the capacity of the LFP battery is 27.5 kWh. This is quite modest by modern standards, but still more than the first-generation Nissan Leaf and the first iteration of the Volkswagen e-Golf. The WLTP cycle range is 263 kilometers.

The electric motor is developed by Shanghai e-drive and has liquid cooling. The battery, in turn, is cooled only by airflow. This feature, along with the use of LFP cells, helps reduce the cost of the car. There is no heat pump provided.

Charging is possible with AC power up to 11 kW or DC power up to 50 kW. Although 50 kW is not much, the small energy storage charges from 10 to 80 percent in about 30 minutes.

In the cabin, the standard equipment includes a 7-inch dashboard display and a 10-inch touchscreen. These are also installed in the base Evolution configuration, which lacks a navigation system. Route planning is done via a smartphone connected through CarPlay or Android Auto. The Techno version, in turn, provides Google services, dynamic charging planning, and a voice assistant.

The Twingo is exclusively a four-seat, five-door car. The rear seats have longitudinal adjustments, and the front passenger seat can optionally fold down for transporting long items. The trunk volume varies from 305 to 966 liters according to the VDA standard.

The serial production line of the Renault Twingo Electric is organized in Slovenia. During development, special attention was paid to simplicity and low cost. Therefore, the novelty is available only in the two aforementioned configurations and four colors: yellow, red, green, and black. The engine and battery combination will also remain unchanged.

Sales will start in the first half of 2026. The starting price is expected to be below the 20,000 euro mark.
