Amazon has started operating Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 electric tractors in the UK.

Earlier this year, Amazon placed its largest order: over 200 Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 trucks for operation in Germany and the UK. These battery electric trucks are now operating across the UK, helping to decarbonize Amazon's logistics network.

Thanks to a fast-charging infrastructure, vehicles can charge from 10% to 80% in about 70 minutes with a charging power of 400 kW. Together, they will transport more than 300 million goods a year.

Series production of eActros 600 began in late November 2024. This model has three battery packs, each with a capacity of 207 kWh. The batteries are based on lithium iron phosphate cell (LFP) technology and are characterized by long service life.

Mercedes-Benz claims that it designed the eActros 600 to meet the same durability requirements for vehicles and components as the diesel Mercedes-Benz Actros. This means a mileage of up to 1.2 million kilometers over ten years of operation. After this service life, the residual capacity of the batteries should be above 80 percent.

The LFP technology allows using more than 95 percent of the installed capacity. This provides greater range with the same installed battery capacity. The vehicle is technically designed for a total trailer load of up to 44 tons. With a standard semi-trailer, the eActros 600 has a payload of about 22 tons in the EU. In some cases, national legislation may allow for a higher payload.

Mercedes-Benz Trucks recently expanded its portfolio of battery electric trucks with new modifications based on the Mercedes-Benz eActros 600. Depending on the range, payload, and comfort requirements, customers will be able to choose between two cabin options, two or three battery packs, various wheelbase and axle configurations. Thus, the second generation of eActros offers more than 40 modifications of the base model.
