Toyota has unveiled the ninth generation of its Hilux pickup truck. The model is now available in fully electric and 48-volt mild hybrid versions. According to the company, the latter will become the most popular Hilux variant in Europe.

Both modifications have retained the frame construction. The fully electric Hilux is equipped with a 59.2 kWh lithium-ion battery and two electric motors on the front and rear axles for all-wheel drive. The WLTP cycle range is up to 257 km in mixed mode and up to 380 km in urban mode.

The payload of the electric version reaches 715 kg, the maximum permissible trailer weight is 1.6 tons. The ground clearance is 212 mm, and the wading depth is up to 700 mm, which matches the hybrid version's indicators.

The 48-volt Hilux hybrid combines a 2.8-liter diesel engine with a compact lithium-ion battery. This configuration is designed to improve ride smoothness and fuel efficiency. This version has a payload capacity of up to 1 ton and is capable of towing trailers weighing up to 3.5 tons.

Both versions will only be available with a double cab and will receive the Toyota T-Mate active safety system package. The company emphasizes that the new Hilux relies on over 27 million vehicles sold through the model's half-century history, with quality, reliability, and durability remaining key priorities.

The electric Hilux BEV will hit the market in April 2026, and the hybrid version will appear in July. Toyota will disclose prices and full technical specifications closer to the sales start.
