The Renault Filante was developed through the joint efforts of Renault Technocentre in France, Renault Design Center Seoul, and Renault Korea. The model is based on the CMA platform from Geely Group.

The name Filante refers to the eponymous Renault prototypes for speed records, and the emblem in the form of a stylized star revives the symbol used on the brand’s luxury models in the 1930s. With this model, Renault hopes to achieve greater success in the premium segment than with previous experiments such as the Vel Satis.

Externally, the Filante stands out with its massive front end with modern LED optics, a sleek silhouette, and a sculpted rear. The car measures 4,915 mm in length, and its wheelbase is 2,820 mm, making it the longest Renault in the current model range. It surpasses the dimensions of the Austral, Espace, and Rafale in Europe, as well as the Grand Koleos sold in South Korea.

In terms of size, the Filante is comparable to premium E-segment crossovers, including the Volvo XC90, Genesis GV80, Lexus RX, Audi Q7, BMW X5, and Mercedes-Benz GLE.

The interior features a panoramic unit consisting of three 12.3-inch screens combined into the OpenR Panorama Screen system. This is complemented by a 25.6-inch head-up display with augmented reality. The interface noticeably differs from European Renault models, although the multimedia system is also based on Google’s Android Automotive.

Depending on the configuration, Arkamys or Bose audio systems, a panoramic roof, and three-zone climate control are available. The trunk volume is 654 liters.

Like the Grand Koleos, the Filante is built on the CMA platform developed by Geely Group. This architecture is also used in the Volvo XC40, Polestar 2, as well as Geely and Lynk & Co models.

The powertrain is a Renault E-Tech 250 hybrid system, combining a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine, two electric motors, a 3-speed automatic DHT Pro transmission, and a battery with a capacity of 1.64 kWh. The total power output is 250 hp (184 kW), and the torque is 565 Nm. Versions with only an internal combustion engine are not provided for the Filante.

Production will start at the Renault plant in Busan, South Korea. Sales are scheduled to begin in March 2026. Pricing will be announced closer to the start of sales.

Export will commence in 2027—the model will appear in South American countries (Colombia, Chile, Uruguay) and the Persian Gulf. Europe is not included in this list: Renault confirmed that the brand’s flagship in the domestic market will remain the Rafale coupe-crossover.
