The electric long-haul tractor Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 became the first battery-powered semi-trailer truck to complete the eNordkapp Challenge expedition, covering approximately 8,000 km from Germany to the North Cape in northern Norway.

VEGA International, an Austrian logistics company, completed the route in ten days. The journey passed through Denmark and Sweden, including the Inlandsvägen route, at temperatures as low as −41 °C.

The eActros 600 towed a semi-trailer with a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van attached. The total mass of the road train was 32.5 tons — a configuration VEGA uses for everyday transport. Mercedes-Benz Trucks noted that the truck was almost production-ready: the only change was the use of tires for extreme winter conditions.

During the journey, the team faced several charging challenges, including short cables, freezing card readers, and the need to disconnect the semi-trailer at some stations.

The Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 is equipped with LFP-type traction batteries with a total capacity of about 621 kWh, providing a range of up to 500 km at a full train weight of up to 40 tons. The electric drive axle delivers about 400 kW of continuous power and up to 600 kW peak, supports fast DC charging up to 400 kW, with a prospect of transitioning to megawatt charging.

Mass production of the eActros 600 began in 2024. The truck received the International Truck of the Year 2025 award.
