Xiaomi has updated its bestseller SU7: now LiDAR and 700 TOPS of performance are available in the base version, and the range has increased to 902 km.

Xiaomi is not slowing down. While competitors are trying to catch up with the first iteration of the SU7, the company has already rolled out the 2026 update. The main news is that now "smart" hardware is available to everyone, not just top version owners. The manufacturer decided to standardize key technologies, making the entry ticket to the world of its electric cars as rich as possible.

"Hardware" for everyone

The most aggressive step of Xiaomi is the unification of hardware. From now on, all configurations of the SU7 by default receive LiDAR on the roof, a 4D millimeter-wave radar, and the Nvidia Thor-U computing platform. The latter device delivers an impressive 700 TOPS of performance, which is necessary for the operation of the Xiaomi HAD driver assistance system. Previously, such "toys" were the prerogative of only expensive modifications.

Technical equipment and "Dragon Chassis"

The engine line is now based on V6S Plus motors. The base version Standard and the middle Pro have a power of 235 kW (320 hp), and the flagship Max delivers a solid 508 kW (691 hp). The platform is positioned as 800-volt, although the actual voltage varies from 752V to 897V depending on the version. This allows the top modification to replenish 670 km of range in just 15 minutes.

The new chassis, named "Dragon Chassis" (Jiaolong), combines a double-wishbone front suspension and a five-link rear setup. In higher versions, a two-chamber air suspension with adaptive shock absorbers is added, which can "read" the road and adjust to it in advance.

Battery options and autonomy:

  • Standard: 73 kWh (LFP), range of 720 km
  • Pro: 96.3 kWh (LFP), range of 902 km
  • Max: 101.7 kWh (three-component lithium), range of 835 km

Safety and interior

Xiaomi has worked seriously on passive safety. High-strength steel is now more widely used in the body structure, and the number of airbags has increased to nine. An interesting detail is the door unlock mechanism with triple redundancy. It has several independent power paths so that the doors can be opened even in extreme conditions after a serious accident.

The interior retains its futuristic look with a 16.1-inch central display and a rotating 7.1-inch instrument panel. However, the finishing materials have become quality, and the Xiaomi Smart Cockpit system now better recognizes voice and supports interaction between multiple screens simultaneously.

Prices

The cost of the updated sedan starts at 219,900 yuan, which is approximately $31,870. This is only $580 more expensive than the previous model, which, with such a quantity of new equipment, looks like a generous gift. The Pro version will cost $36,220, and the top Max - $44,043.
