The Corvette Grand Sport has always been the choice for those seeking a middle ground between the base Stingray and the extreme Z06. During the 12 Hours of Sebring race in Florida, Chevrolet officially confirmed: the legend returns in its eighth generation. Without much fanfare or lengthy presentations, the company brought the car to the track, expected to be the most popular choice for true enthusiasts.
Surprise at Sebring: Admiral Blue and new accents
The appearance of the new Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport of the 2027 model year was a surprise for spectators. The car took to the track accompanied by its historic predecessors, showcasing generational continuity. The body features the iconic Admiral Blue shade with a wide white stripe down the center. An interesting detail: the distinctive red "hash marks," previously positioned on the front fenders, have now moved to the rear wheel arches. This hints at the C8 mid-engine configuration, where the main visual weight is shifted to the rear.

New "heart": rumors of a 6.7-liter V8
While Chevrolet is keeping the numbers under embargo, company representatives have confirmed the main point: the Grand Sport will receive an entirely new V8 engine. The most likely candidate is a naturally aspirated 6.7-liter unit, internally designated as LS6. It is expected that this engine will produce about 535–550 hp, allowing the model to confidently position itself above the standard Stingray.

Unlike the hybrid E-Ray, the new Grand Sport retains rear-wheel drive. However, in the photos, you can see four tailpipes of the exhaust system, grouped in the center, like in the top-tier Z06 and ZR1. This indicates serious work on the sound and throughput capacity of the exhaust. More technical details are promised to be revealed during the official presentation scheduled for March 26.
Grand Sport X: hybrid replacement for the E-Ray
Besides the classic version, insiders are actively discussing the appearance of the Grand Sport X modification. Rumor has it that it will be an all-wheel-drive hybrid with over 720 hp, eventually entirely replacing the E-Ray model. This move will help avoid confusion in the lineup, as the name E-Ray often misleads buyers, hinting at a fully electric drive.
