When Nissan updated the Fairlady Z for the Japanese market earlier this year, it was only a matter of time before these changes reached the American version. The 2027 model year brought not only cosmetic tweaks but also technical changes that fans have been waiting for since the release of the current generation. The main surprise is that the "charged" Nismo version has finally gotten rid of the automatic transmission dominance.

Retro design and aerodynamics
The Sport and Performance trims have received a new "face." Designers have brought back the split grille, which is a nod to classic Datsun models. The company claims this bumper shape improves engine cooling and optimizes airflow. Also, the Nissan emblem is no longer on the front of the car - it has been replaced by the minimalist Z logo.
The color palette has been expanded with Shinkai Green Pearl Metallic. This is a modern interpretation of the Unryu Green color, which was offered for the legendary S30 series in the 1970s. The new color is available exclusively with a contrasting black roof. The Performance version also got new 19-inch black forged wheels and the option to order the interior in tan.
Three pedals for real drivers
The most important news concerns the Nismo version. Buyers can now choose a 6-speed manual gearbox instead of the 9-speed automatic. For this, engineers have retuned the 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 to provide sharper throttle response. Active Sound Enhancement and Active Noise Cancellation systems have also been calibrated for a more aggressive sound in Sport mode.

The technical updates for Nismo do not end there:
- Front brake discs from the Nissan GT-R installed
- Total car weight reduced by 8.6 kg
- New shock absorbers and steering rack installed
Small details that matter
All versions of the 2027 Nissan Z received a new fuel tank. Its design was changed to ensure stable fuel delivery to the pump during long, high-G turns. The interior features a more powerful 15W wireless charger with a cooling system to prevent the device from overheating during operation.
The official debut of the new model will take place at the New York Auto Show next week. While exact prices have not been announced, current price lists serve as a guide: from $44,000 for the base version to $67,000 for the top Nismo option.
