Toyota has divided the Land Cruiser 250 into two special versions: Icon for off-road and Premium for maximum comfort.

The Toyota Land Cruiser 250 SUV is preparing for a spring update of the European lineup. This time, the Japanese decided to separate the audience: for off-road enthusiasts, they prepared the Icon version, and for those who value technology and comfort on the highway, the Premium version.

Back to basics with Icon

The Icon version is a nod to classic and functionality. The most noticeable exterior detail is the round LED headlights, which were previously the prerogative of the limited First Edition series. Now this retro style becomes part of the regular model range, emphasizing generational continuity. The body of the car from the press photo is painted in a new exclusive Smoky Blue shade, and massive roof rails for expedition equipment have appeared on the roof.

From a technical point of view, Icon is "sharpened" for tough conditions. It is equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels, allowing for tires with a higher profile for better shock absorption on rocks. Standard features include a rear differential lock and a package of electronic assistants: Crawl Control for automatic low-speed off-road driving, Downhill Assist Control, and the Multi-Terrain Monitor system that allows the driver to see "through the hood".

Technology and luxury in Premium execution

If Icon is about dirt and adventure, then Premium is about long journeys in first class. Externally, this car is easy to recognize by the 20-inch wheels and rectangular optics. But the main changes are hidden inside: the interior is fully trimmed with high-quality leather, and the front seats are equipped not only with heating but also with a ventilation system and a wide range of electric adjustments.

A premium JBL audio system with 14 speakers is offered to music lovers, and the driver gets a head-up display on the windshield and a digital rearview mirror, which broadcasts an image from the camera. Instead of a rigid rear axle lock, the Torsen center differential is often relied upon here, which better adapts torque to changing road conditions at high speed. As an option, Premium can be ordered with a panoramic roof and a third row of seats.

Hybrid diesel under the hood

Both versions received a modernized 2.8-liter turbo diesel, now paired with a 48-volt mild hybrid system. This solution did not turn the Land Cruiser into an economical compact car, but it added the necessary smoothness at startup and while operating the start-stop system in city traffic. The powertrain produces 204 hp, transmitted to all four wheels through an 8-speed automatic.

According to Toyota, the new configurations will appear in European dealerships as early as spring 2026. Although prices have not yet been announced, it is expected that the division into "off-road" and "luxury" versions will help the model better compete with European brands while maintaining its legendary reliability.
