Volkswagen officially introduced the Volkswagen ID. Unyx 08 - an electric crossover developed in collaboration with Xpeng. The model became the first mass-produced car within this partnership.
Sales started on April 16. Prices range from $33,000 to $42,000, which appears to be quite competitive for a large electric crossover - at least in the Chinese market.
Dimensions and Design: Focus on Impact
ID. Unyx 08 adopts a new style with an emphasis on the Chinese audience. The central element is a decorative "golden" line that converges towards the front logo. The front features more than 400 individual LED elements with customizable lighting scenarios.
Dimensions match those of large SUVs:
- length - 5000 mm
- width - 1954 mm
- height - 1688 mm (1672 mm with air suspension in standard position)
- wheelbase - 3030 mm
Available are 20- and 21-inch wheels, and four-piston Brembo brakes are included as standard equipment.
Interior: Large Screen Instead of Buttons
The interior is designed with an "enveloping" principle. In front of the driver - a digital panel of 10.25 inches, nearby - two 14.96-inch displays with a resolution of 2.4K.
The systems are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon SA8295P chip. The built-in voice assistant uses solutions from Z.AI and Baidu (Wenxin model).
The five-seat cabin offers 766 liters of trunk space, which increases to 1845 liters with the seats folded. The front seats are equipped with electric adjustment, ventilation, heating, and massage.
Assistants
The driver assistance system uses:
- 11 cameras
- 3 millimeter-wave radars
- 12 ultrasonic sensors
The data is processed by AI chips with a total performance of 1500 TOPS. In practice, this means faster system responses, though not fully autonomous driving.
Powertrain: Fast and Far
The crossover is built on an 800-volt platform. Two configurations are available:
- rear-wheel drive - 230 kW
- all-wheel drive - 370 kW
The all-wheel-drive version accelerates to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds, with a top speed of 200 km/h.
Batteries are LFP from CATL:
- 82 kWh - up to 630 km
- 95 kWh - up to 730 km
The senior battery supports charging power of up to 315 kW: about 150 km can be added in 5 minutes, while 10-80% takes about 20 minutes.
Suspension: "Magic Carpet" in Chinese Style
An optional dual-chamber air suspension with an adaptive DCC system and road preview function - the so-called "magic carpet" - is available. The ground clearance can be adjusted within up to 100 mm.
