Mercedes-Benz introduced a new GLC L ahead of the 2026 Beijing Auto Show. The SUV is designed specifically for Chinese consumers who enjoy spacious interiors.

The appearance of GLC L EV is a blend of modern minimalism and retro-futurism. The most notable feature is the huge "grille" inspired by classic Mercedes-Benz models from the 1900s. But instead of chrome, 942 integrated LED blocks are used. They create pulsating effects while unlocking the car or during charging. The decorative grille is complemented by an illuminated three-pointed star and adaptive optics.

The length of the crossover is 4949 mm, width is 1970 mm, and height is 1710 mm. The wheelbase has been stretched to 3027 mm, which is 55 mm more than the global version. Overall, the body has been lengthened by 104 mm, and this entire increase has been allocated to the comfort of rear passengers. Hidden door handles and sleek profile lines work for aerodynamics.

Digitalization and "Little Ben"

Inside is dominated by the MBUX Super Screen. The front panel is a single glass element with a diagonal of 39.1 inches, under which a 14.4-inch central and a 12.3-inch passenger display are concealed. Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 is responsible for computing power.

An interesting innovation is the virtual assistant "Xiao Ben" (which can be translated as "Little Ben"), which supports self-learning and updates "over the air". For comfort, it includes:

  • Seats with heating, ventilation, and massage;
  • Burmester sound system;
  • A panoramic roof with nine zones of transparency adjustment;
  • Projection display on the windshield.

Technology: 800 volts and all-wheel steering chassis

GLC L EV is built on a modern 800-volt architecture, allowing for a range increase of 260 km in just 10 minutes of fast charging. The dual-motor powertrain delivers 310 kW (416 hp) and 800 Nm of torque. The 89 kWh battery provides a range of over 700 km according to the CLTC cycle.

But the main "feature" is the chassis. The crossover is standardly equipped with air suspension, which adapts height and stiffness depending on road conditions. In addition, the car received a rear-wheel steering system (turn angle up to 4.5 degrees). This makes the large crossover more maneuverable in the city and stable on the highway.
