BYD has released the first images of the new Great Han sedan, which will become the brand's flagship model. The official premiere of the model is expected in the third quarter of 2026, when the car goes on sale in the Chinese market.

The new BYD is still partially camouflaged, but now you can assess the main design features and learn the first details about the technical specifications. The first photos were published on Weibo by Lu Tian, General Manager of BYD's Dynasty series car sales.

New flagship with a coupe-like silhouette

Despite being a flagship, Great Han will compete in the D-segment, where models like the Audi A5, BMW 3 Series, and Mercedes-Benz C-Class compete.

The company has not yet disclosed the exact dimensions, but according to preliminary data, the sedan length will be about 4,800 mm. Thanks to the large wheelbase, the car will have a spacious interior, which is traditionally important for the Chinese market.

Aerodynamics became one of the main priorities

The appearance of Great Han largely echoes the previously presented BYD Han L. This is especially noticeable in the design of the front part of the body.

The car received narrow headlights, united by a LED strip across the entire width of the front. A similar solution is used in the back, where a continuous light panel is installed.

BYD emphasizes that the body was developed with a focus on a low aerodynamic drag coefficient. The roofline begins to slope smoothly from the central pillar, forming a silhouette similar to a liftback or four-door coupe. Aerodynamics should play an important role in achieving high range.

Electric or hybrid

Great Han will be offered in two main configurations. Buyers will be able to choose between fully electric versions and modifications with a hybrid powertrain. According to preliminary information, this is a system with an extended range, where the gasoline engine works as a generator.

All versions will receive second-generation Blade batteries and support for ultra-fast charging.

Up to 1,008 km on a single charge

Preliminary specifications for the electric modifications look quite ambitious. The rear-wheel-drive version will have a claimed range of up to 1,008 km, while the all-wheel-drive version can travel up to 880 km without recharging.

It's worth noting that these figures are calculated based on the Chinese certification cycle, which usually shows more optimistic results compared to the European WLTP standard.

BYD plans to reveal complete technical specifications, including powertrain output, battery capacity, and performance figures, closer to the sales launch.
