Volkswagen has published the first design sketch of the new electric sedan, designated ID.Aero. Soon it will become a full-fledged concept, and then a serial electric car.

The first official image of the Volkswagen ID.Aero shows what the concept of the new sedan will be like. Accordingly, the concept will serve as the starting point for the formation of the design of a production car.

Curiously, Volkswagen calls the ID.Aero the first all-electric sedan for the Chinese market, although Volkswagen e-Bora electric sedans have been successfully sold there for three years and Volkswagen e-Lavida. The first is produced jointly with the Chinese company FAW, the second - with the SAIC concern. This is probably how Volkswagen emphasizes that ID.Aero will be produced in China without the help of local partners.

So far, only the platform is known about Volkswagen ID.Aero - the modular Volkswagen MEB, originally created for battery-powered cars with obvious layout advantages compared to models that are converted from gasoline to electric cars. According to rumors, the novelty will have versions with a power reserve of up to 700 km, but it is better to wait for official data.

The premiere of the Volkswagen ID.Aero concept will take place on June 27. The serial version of the model should enter the Chinese market in the second half of 2023. Around the same time, the debut of the European and American versions of the sedan is expected, which will replace the four-door Volkswagen Passat in the lineup.
