The latest Google Maps beta update version 11.39 allows you to select the engine type of the vehicle you are driving. This selection - with options for petrol, diesel, electric and hybrid - will be used by the navigation app to find the route that will save you the most fuel or electricity.
This innovation is the development of the Google Maps feature, which appeared last year for some countries. The popular navigator began to offer not only the fastest route, but also the most economical and environmentally friendly.
However, not all vehicles behave the same or can optimize fuel efficiency in the same ways. Thus, the best route for an internal combustion engine car is not necessarily the same as the best route for an electric car. The developers have taken this feature into account, and with the release of the new version of the application, it will become even smarter. That's just how quickly the feature will appear in the stable version of Google Maps, is not yet known.
