The new Suzuki Grand Vitara was introduced by the Indian company Maruti Suzuki, owned by the Japanese Suzuki Motor Corporation. The crossover is built on the Suzuki Global C platform (the same as in the European Suzuki Vitara) and is largely unified with the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, which was introduced in India on July 1.
Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder differ only in some design elements. The proportions and door openings of both models are reminiscent of the original Suzuki Vitara. At the same time, the wheelbase has been stretched by 100 mm relative to Vitara - up to 2600 mm. The length of the crossover has grown from 4175 to 4345 mm, the width has been increased from 1775 mm to 1795 mm, and the height from 1610 mm to 1645 mm.

There are two hybrid systems in the range of engines. The first is built around a 1.5-liter Suzuki K15C engine (103 hp, 137 Nm). It has a 12-volt starter-alternator and a 6 Ah lithium-ion battery. Possible transmissions: five-speed manual or six-speed automatic. For the version with a manual transmission, you can choose an all-wheel drive system.
The second option is a full-fledged hybrid, created together with Toyota. In this case, the main one is the 1.5-liter Toyota M15A gasoline engine (92 hp and 122 Nm), which is assisted by an electric motor (80 hp, 141 Nm) and a hybrid transmission. Such a Grand Vitara can only be front-wheel drive, the peak total system power is 115 hp.
The new Suzuki Grand Vitara will be produced at the Toyota Kirloskar plant in India. The start of sales is scheduled for October 2022.
