Turkish armored personnel carriers protect personnel during transport from mines and ballistic threats.

Since Russia openly attacked Ukraine on February 24, 2022, the Ukrainian military has received new weapons and equipment from various countries and manufacturers. Now it has become known about the arrival of Turkish BMC Kirpi armored vehicles in the 4x4 modification.

Ukrainian Deputy Yuri Misyagin informed that Ukraine has already received fifty BMC Kirpi 4x4. These vehicles were handed over to two brigades of the Marine Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Another 150 BMC Kirpi units are expected to be delivered soon.

The BMC Kirpi (Turkish for "Hedgehog") is a wheeled armored vehicle for safely transporting troops from one location to another. It has been mass-produced since 2009 and is intensively used by the Turkish army in hot spots, including military operations in Syria.

The body and cockpit of the Kirpi are protected from ballistic and mine threats. The 4x4 version can carry up to 13 personnel, including the driver, machine gunner and commander. The curb weight of a standard machine of this configuration is 18 tons, the load capacity is 1.6 tons.

An automatic cabin fire suppression system is standard on the BMC Kirpi. An armored personnel carrier can be equipped with a 7.62 or 12.7 mm machine gun.
