Franky Zapata is a French watercraft pilot, former jet ski world champion and founder of Zapata. Previously, he invented the water and air flyboard, and now his company has created the JetRacer aircraft, which is a carbon bucket seat that can fly using the thrust of 10 of the same small jet engines as flyboards.
JetRacer is characterized by high top speed and maneuverability. The chair is able to accelerate in the air up to 250 km / h, climb to a height of up to 3000 m, fly in strong and turbulent winds. The maximum load capacity is 200 kg, while the aircraft can operate autonomously or be controlled remotely.
Ten jet micromotors are controlled by an electronic control system. Each turbine has a backup power in case of emergency, but the car is able to continue flying even if two of them failed for any reason. The JetRacer uses aviation kerosene as fuel.
JetRacer is not yet mass-produced and the price of the flying chair has not been named. Nevertheless, Zapata announced the recruitment of 100 volunteers who are ready to try this unusual aircraft. After qualifying tests, 25 lucky people will be allowed to control the jet seat. You can register using the form on Zapata's website.
