Tesla Roadster will have a competitor. The Swedish company Polestar has confirmed plans to start mass production of the number 6 electric roadster.

In March 2022, Polestar unveiled the Polestar O? concept in Los Angeles. The car received positive feedback from the public and the company decided to put it on the conveyor in a slightly modified design and under the index 6.

The roadster will be built on the Polestar aluminum platform. It will have a high-performance 800-volt electrical architecture similar to that of the Polestar 5 sedan. The power plant will reach 650 kW (884 hp), accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds, and the maximum speed will be limited at around 250 km/h.

First, Polestar will release 500 numbered units of the Polestar 6 LA Concept edition. They will feature a unique sky blue exterior, light leather interior and 21-inch wheels inspired by the Polestar O? Concept.

You can pre-order the Polestar 6 here. The start of serial production of the new roadster is scheduled for 2026.

Theoretically, the Polestar 6 should become a competitor to the second-generation Tesla Roadster, which was announced back in 2017, but has not yet entered the assembly line. This two-door car, according to Tesla's promises, will be able to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 1.9 seconds, top speed will exceed 400 km/h, and the range will be 1000 km.

Polestar is a Swedish electric car manufacturer owned by Volvo Cars and Geely.
