In the day since the opening of pre-orders, Ioniq 6 was ordered by 37,446 people, which became a new record for the brand.

The new Hyundai Ioniq 6 received 13,686 more pre-orders on its first day than the Ioniq 5 crossover a year and a half ago. The company said the strong demand for the Ioniq 6 proves that consumers in Korea believe the new vehicle will be a game-changer in the electric vehicle era.

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 electric car debuted in July at the Busan International Auto Show. The sedan is built on the E-GMP (Electric-Global Modular Platform) platform. The capacity of the base battery is 53 kWh, and the optional long-range battery is 77.4 kWh. 

The standard version has one engine on the rear axle. However, the fastest Ioniq 6 will receive two engines with a total power of 239 kW (325 hp) and a torque of 605 Nm. It will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds.

In South Korea, a standard rear-wheel-drive Hyundai Ioniq 6 starts at 54 million won ($40,500). Prices for the long-range version with larger battery start at 58.5 million won ($43.8 thousand). The Ioniq 6's main competitor in the global market is the Tesla Model 3 sedan.

The first customers should have their Hyundai Ioniq 6 in early 2023.
