Unusual roof designs have always been a hallmark of MINI vehicles. From the British Union Jack flag, to the 26-color MINI Paul Smith and the gradient Multitone paint introduced last year. Now the automaker has gone even further and created a separate line of models called the Multitone Edition.
It applies to the 3-door and 5-door MINI hardtop and the MINI Clubman. A new gradient coating extends from the windshield frame to the rear of the car. From light Aspen White at the front of the roof, the color scheme elegantly transitions to the more muted Melting Silver II gray before changing to Jet Black at the rear.

The effect of changing color depending on the viewing angle is complemented by an abstract image of a rainbow in white. Similar graphics are also featured on the front fenders, floor mats, sun visors, sills and doors.

The distinctive look is made possible by the innovative wet-on-wet paint process used at MINI's British factory in Oxford. In this paintwork, three color shades are applied directly one after the other. Variations in the color scheme may occur due to changing environmental conditions, making each MINI Multitone Edition unique.
