The Toyota bZ3 will be the second electric vehicle on the e-TNGA platform after the Toyota bZ4X crossover, which is produced in Japan and sold in many countries around the world. However, the bZ3 is being developed in China with the participation of BYD and FAW, and it is the inhabitants of this country who will be the first to purchase this sedan.
The bZ3 is the production version of the 2021 Toyota bZ SDN concept. In terms of overall dimensions, the new sedan is larger than the Corolla, but smaller than the Camry (although the wheelbase of the bZ3 is even longer than that of the Camry). According to the Chinese certification body, the electric car, depending on the configuration, will receive wheels with a diameter of 16 or 18 inches.
Interestingly, Toyota bZ3 will receive electric motors and lithium iron phosphate batteries from the Chinese company BYD. According to preliminary information, two rear-wheel drive versions are planned: with a 184 or 245 hp engine. The capacity of the batteries has not yet been disclosed, but the curb weight of the vehicles is known: 1710 kg and 1835 kg, respectively. Top speed is limited to 160 km/h.
FAW will produce Toyota bZ3 in China. The official premiere of the car is expected in November at the Guangzhou Auto Show.
