Jimny five-door pre-production car has been spied as launch date nears, this time being tested in the company’s key market of India.

Just two months after the Jimny five-door was first seen in Europe (top photo), Autocar India spotted the long-wheelbase version of Suzuki's very popular off-roader.

According to reports, the new Jimny five-door will make its debut at the Auto Expo 2023 motor show in New Delhi, which will be held in January.

The larger model will have an increased wheelbase by 300 mm, to 2550 mm. This means that owners won't need to choose between carrying passengers or luggage anymore.

The Jimny will likely come with Maruti's new K15C 1.5-litre DualJet engine, which is debuting in the five-door model. The three-door Jimny sold in other countries comes with an older K15B power plant, but that has been replaced by the newer K15C in India. You'll be able to choose between a five-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission, both of which will be paired with a manually operated transfer case for fourwheel drive use.
