The first power swap station produced at the NIO Power Europe Plant in Hungary was officially sent to Germany on September 16.

NIO has just opened their first overseas Power Plant in Pest megye, Hungary. The 10,000 meter squared site will serve as the hub for NIO's power product manufacturing and after-sales service in Europe. This includes operations such as battery swapping stations and training courses for European power usage, as well as research and development of new power products.

The NIO Power Europe Plant will help the firm establish 1,000 battery swap stations across the world by 2025, according to Qin Lihong, co-founder and president of NIO.

Earlier this year NIO announced that it was working on liquid-cooled ultra-fast charging piles with up to 500kW maximum currents of 650A and that they would be installed across Europe and China before the end of the year.

NIO was also working on its third-generation battery swap station, which would be more adaptable and have a greater output than previous versions. Despite the fact that there are no specific details about the project, NIO plans to have over 4,000 battery swap stations around the world by 2025.

So far, NIO has opened 1,048  fully automated Power Swap Stations in China. An electric car drives into the station, after which the system of manipulators removes the discharged battery and replaces it with a charged one. The whole process takes no more time than filling the tank of a car with an internal combustion engine.
