In the United States, 6,752 Mercedes-Benz C-Class vehicles have been recalled due to a potential hazardous flaw.

Water may enter a particular section of the trunk in 2022 Mercedes-Benz C300, according to a recall notice. If it does, moisture might enter the signal acquisition and actuation module, potentially causing a short circuit and raising the the risk of a fire.

A short circuit could trigger other issues, like the exterior light at the rear of the luxury sedan failing or rear seatbacks may fold unintentionally. Additionally, this increases the risk of a crash because the driver would not be able to see behind them as easily.

Affected C-Class models were produced between June 24, 2021 and May 13, 2022. Impacted owners will be notified before November 11, 2022 and instructed to bring their vehicle to their nearest dealership to fix the problem.

Mercedes-Benz isn't aware of any crashes, injuries, and third party damage triggered by the defect.
