Cadillac is aware of the issue and is asking owners of the 186 Cadillac Lyriqs that are affected by this recall to bring their SUV back to the dealership so that the problem can be fixed. In the meantime, deliveries of the Lyriq have been put on hold until further notice.
First discovered on August 3, the automaker started an investigation on August 19, following a report of a blank screen at the Lyriq's assembly plant. Alarmingly, when the automaker looked into the problem, it found 16 field incident reports related to a blank infotainment screen.

Naturally, because the infotainment screen is used to control a lot of the EV's controls, drivers have issues with it. To put it more clearly, since the backup camera cannot be displayed on a blank screen, the vehicle does not adhere to U.S. regulations that demand the feature.
According to the investigation, Cadillac found that the problem is caused by a software error that can happen when someone tries to get in or out of the car. The Lyriq performs a boot-up/shut-down cycle when it is switched off and in Park mode, but this can be halted by opening the door. If it's interrupted within a specific five-second window, the screen can go blank.
The classic "turning it off and turning it back on again" manipulation usually fixes the issue. But that's only a temporary fix, and Cadillac has found a more permanent solution that it will implement via an update in the software.
