The Ford Transit Trail's updated grille with integrated marker lamps make it easy to spot on the road. To help this SUV stand out, it also has tinted headlights and an unpainted bumper. The new skid plate is another sign that this transit was built for trails. Along the side, you'll notice wider wheel arches and splash guards that look like rock sliders--nice touches that add both style and function.
Ford lifted the Transit Trail suspension by 3.5-inches, extended the tracks by 2.75 inches, and added a new set of 16-inch alloy wheels shod in grippy 30.5-inch Goodyear Wrangler Workhorse all terrain tires giving it increased capability for rougher terrain. This combination with the standard allwheel drive system makes it more capable than most people would give it credit for.
The van is available in two different sizes, medium and high. The regular wheelbase is good for most people, but if you need more space then you can get the high-roof extended-length body. If you need configurable cargo space, the latter option provides 487 cubic feet, with a length of 14 feet (4,267 mm). If you're tall, no problem! Both high roof options allow for people up to 6'5 feet (196 cm) to stand comfortably in the back.
The "Uplifter Package" lets you power accessories with high-capacity switches, puts a larger center console in your car, adds an auxiliary fuse panel with a high-spec connector, and gives you dual AGM batteries.
The 2023 Ford Transit Trail comes fitted with the most powerful 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine producing 310 hp (231 kW / 314 PS) and 400 lb-ft (541 Nm) of torque. Power is transmitted to all four wheels through a 10-speed automatic gearbox, with the help of an "Intelligent All-Wheel Drive" system offering five selectable drive modes (Normal, Eco, Mud/Ruts, Tow/Haul, and Slippery).

The optional "Heavy-Duty Trailer Package" gives the van a towing capacity rating of 6,500 lbs (2,948 kg). That means it can tow boats or other vehicles. The van also has ADAS, which are safety features like Blind Spot Assist and Reverse and Side Sensing systems. Adaptive Cruise Control is another safety feature.
The Ford Transit Trail that is assembled in Missouri will be available starting in spring 2023. The price for the standard-length, medium-roof version starts at $65,975.
