McLaren Automotive, a UK company specializing in luxury sports cars, is joining forces with Lockheed Martin Skunk Works. The team at Skunk Works is responsible for design and creation of well-known models such as the SR-71 Blackbird and Darkstar hypersonic jet (featured in the "Top Gun: Maverick" movie).

The partnership will seek to transfer Lockheed's systems over to the world of cars, because its "pioneering software sets the parameters for high-speed systems more accurately and swiftly than traditional design methods".

In honor of the partnership, both companies brought out their latest products to California near the Skunk Works HQ: McLaren had an Artura, and Lockheed showed off the Darkstar.

"McLaren is a pioneering company that has always pushed boundaries and sought out new innovative and disruptive solutions to making the ultimate supercars," said McLaren Chief Technical Officer Darren Goddard. "Working alongside an iconic company such as Lockheed Martin Skunk Works, renowned for their visionary focus on the future, is a natural fit. We hope this is the start of a longer and deeper collaboration that will benefit our customers in the long term."

The results of this collaboration are highly anticipated, as the combination of McLaren's expertise in automotive engineering and Lockheed Martin Skunk Works' experience in aircraft design could result in something truly revolutionary for the auto industry. This partnership has the potential to produce a car that is both incredibly fast and incredibly safe, and could set a new standard for future supercars. With the promise of a powerful engine backed by state-of-the-art safety systems, it's certainly worth waiting to see what this team can come up with.
