Opel is rebranding the all-electric Mokka-e to simply Opel Mokka Electric. This compact crossover will also have a larger battery option with more power in the future.

"'e' becomes 'Electric'. With the new suffix, we underline that the Opel Mokka offers even more electric driving fun," said Opel CEO Florian Huettl.

With the new 54 kWh battery, Mokka Electric drivers can cover up to 406 kilometres instead of up to 338 kilometres according to WLTP tests - an improvement of almost 20 percent. It takes about half an hour to recharge the battery to 80 percent provided you're using a 100-kW DC station. Interestingly, energy consumption has decreased to 15.2 kWh per 100 kilometres.

Mokka Electric also gets a more powerful front-mounted electric motor delivering 156 horsepower (115 kilowatts) and an instant torque of 260 Newton-meters. Taken from the Astra Electric, the e-motor has enough punch for a 0 to 100 km/h in less than 10 seconds and an electronically governed top speed of 150 km/h.

The Mokka Electric is another example of how Opel is pushing ahead with its electric offensive. Twelve electrified Opel models are already available today, including the entire range of light commercial vehicles. By 2024, the manufacturer will also offer every model in an electrified version. And by 2028, Opel will become an all-electric brand in Europe.
