To mark its 55th anniversary, Italdesign is showcasing the Climb-E, a futuristic transportation solution, at CES in Las Vegas. The Climb-E is designed to offer door-to-door services and can be linked with other Climb-E capsules on an electric platform called a skid. This concept is Italdesign's vision for the future of mobility.
The Climb-E is meant to function as an extension of the home or office, and can be booked using a dedicated app. Its unique design enables it to be lifted to different floors of buildings and connected with other capsules on a hyperloop for longer trips. When not in use, the capsule can serve as an extra room in the dwelling. Italdesign imagines a future where office buildings have hanging parking spaces for the capsules, which could also be used as additional small private meeting areas.

The passenger compartment of the Climb-E is equipped with large windows that can be tinted for privacy, and at least one partially transparent window that serves as a touchscreen. The doors can be opened wide to facilitate easy access and can also function as ramps for wheelchairs. Passengers can customize the interior display and tech functions with profiles stored in the cloud, and the screens can be individually configured when more people are on board.

The upholstery is made from eco-leather, recycled polyester, Alcantara, and "new technologies widely used in the fashion sector to customize materials." The graphics on the seating surfaces were created using a 3D printing technique applied directly onto the eco-leather.

Italdesign provided ample information about the skid transport components as well. The skid is intended for shared, rather than private, use and has a battery pack that can provide a range of 200 miles. It can also be charged inductively, reaching 80% in 15 minutes. The skid is equipped with an external projection system that can warn pedestrians of oncoming traffic and project the skid's intended path onto the road to inform other drivers of its direction.
While Italdesign's vision for the Climb-E is detailed and exciting, there is currently no information available about plans to bring it to fruition.
