The Suzuki Jimny 5-Door was officially revealed at the Auto Expo 2023 in India, where it made its debut. Developed by New Delhi-based company Maruti Suzuki, the model boasts a spacious interior cabin, thanks to its added rear doors.

While the 3-door version of the Jimny sold in Japan measures 3,395 millimeters (133.7 inches) in length, the global 3-Door model is longer at 3,645 mm (143.5 in). The 5-Door model is even larger, measuring 3,985 mm (157 in) in length and 2,590 mm (102 in) in wheelbase, making it 340 mm (13.3 in) longer than the 3-Door variant. The vehicle also stands 1,645 mm (64.8 in) wide and 1,720 mm (67.7 in) tall.

The new model maintains the rugged and boxy styling of its predecessor, featuring a black roof to complement the Kinetic Yellow main color. Other familiar design elements include flared wheel arches, round headlights, a slatted front grille, exposed rear hinges, and off-road tires. It sits on 15-inch wheels with 195/80 rubber and has a rear-mounted spare wheel with a black cover.

Inside, the cabin has been largely carried over from the standard Jimny, complete with a grab handle on the passenger side of the dashboard and faux exposed bolts. The Indian-spec model also has a rear bench that can seat up to three passengers, offering 208 liters (7.3 cubic feet) of cargo space with the rear seats up and expandable to 332 liters (11.7 cubic feet) when folded down.

Amenities include a nine-inch infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a rearview camera, and an Arkamys sound system. Safety features include hill hold and hill descent assist, six airbags, ESP, and electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD).

Under the hood, the Jimny 5-Door is powered by a mild-hybrid 1.5-liter gasoline engine producing 105 hp at 6,000 rpm and 134 Nm (99 lb-ft) at 4,400 rpm, paired with a four-wheel-drive system. Transmission options include a five-speed manual and a four-speed torque-converter automatic. The vehicle also offers 2WD-high, 4WD-high, and 4WD-low modes for off-roading, with a 36-degree approach angle, a 24-degree breakover angle, a 50-degree departure angle, and a 210-mm ground clearance.

Maruti Suzuki will assemble the Jimny 5-Door at its Gurugram plant and is currently accepting orders in India, where it will be available for purchase in May. The model will also be available in other markets, including Africa, Australia, and Latin America.
