Subaru is sprucing up its recently released Impreza with a selection of STI enhancements, as seen at the Tokyo Auto Salon.

The concept car, painted in Sunblaze Pearl, boasts a subtle body kit that lends it a slightly more aggressive look. However, it's worth noting that this isn't a full-on STI version, as Subaru Tecnica International is just getting started on upgrades for the sixth-generation model.

One of the most notable changes can be seen at the back, where the 2024 Impreza now features center-mounted dual exhaust tips, giving it a sportier appearance. The JDM-spec car also boasts STI-branded black alloy wheels and a newly designed roof-mounted spoiler. The rear bumper has also been updated with a pair of winglets, in an attempt to give the compact hatch a more muscular look.

Other STI add-ons include beefier side skirts finished in glossy black, a front spoiler lip, and trim pieces above the fog lights. At this time, Subaru has not revealed any potential hardware changes, but a sportier suspension setup is likely in the works. Additionally, the company has not announced any plans for extra power.

As a reminder, the US-spec 2024 Impreza comes with a 2.0-liter base engine that produces 152 hp (113 kW) and 145 lb-ft (197 Nm) of torque. However, buyers can opt for a 2.5-liter mill that generates 182 hp (136 kW) and 178 lb-ft (241 Nm). According to Subaru, the Japanese version of the Impreza relies on a hybrid 2.0-liter powertrain, and both versions come with all-wheel drive and a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

For now, this is just a small effort from STI to inject some excitement into the latest Impreza. New parts are being developed and we hope Subaru's performance division is planning some mechanical upgrades to complement these visual enhancements. With no STI version of the WRX currently available, a hot hatch would fill that void.
