The 2023 Audi A6 e-tron is currently undergoing testing, as seen from recent spy shots in the snow, and now it looks like we've got our first glimpse of the high-performance Audi RS6 e-tron.

In these low-light photos, it's difficult to make out details, but the car seen in the images features larger red brake calipers than the A6 e-tron previously spotted, which may suggest that this is the performance-driven RS model.

According to rumors, the RS6 e-tron will share the same body style as the standard A6 e-tron, but with a wider body, bigger wheels, and a significant power boost. This all-electric performance sedan is expected to arrive in 2024 with over 800 horsepower from a dual-motor setup.

It's important to note that the A6 e-tron and the RS6 will be built on Audi's PPE (Premium Platform Electric) platform, a project currently being co-developed with Porsche. The platform will feature an 800-volt charging architecture with 270 kW charge speeds, and will also underpin future models like the Audi Q6 e-tron and Porsche Macan EV.

Although Audi has not yet confirmed performance figures for the A6 e-tron, the concept boasts a 100 kWh battery with a 435-mile range (WLTP). With 469 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque, the base model can reach 60 mph in under four seconds, which means the more powerful RS version will be even quicker.

So far, only the sedan variant has been spotted, but Audi reportedly has plans to build an Avant version of both models. However, even if the RS6 Avant e-tron doesn't make it to production, the standard RS6 e-tron will still be a Sportback design with a hatch rather than a traditional trunk. This leaves the future of the A7 in question, as it currently fills the role of a midsize sedan with a liftback in Audi's lineup.

Stay tuned for more information about the A6 e-tron later this year, and the RS6 model next year.
