The Luvly O is produced and shipped like IKEA furniture, in flatpacks from a main factory. Twenty units of the EV can fit in a standard container which would normally fit up to four regular-sized cars.
Unlike IKEA furniture which is assembled by the buyer, Luvly's patented feature allows the process to take place in smaller regional factories. This process enables an initial price of $11,000 before any subsidies.
The dimensions of the EV are 2,700 mm (106.3 inches) in length, 1,530 mm (60.2 inches) in width, and 1,440 mm (56.7 inches) in height. It is longer than a Citroen Ami by 290 mm (11.4 inches) but shorter than a Fiat 500 by 932 mm (36.7 inches). The exterior design is simple with no front grille, recessed round headlights, semi-exposed wheels, and no rear glass. The interior has two seats and a cargo space of 267 liters (9.4 cubic feet).
The Luvly O requires up to 80% less energy for production and use compared to standard EVs, and is designed to be environmentally friendly. The microcar is lightweight, requiring only 6 kWh / 100 km (62 miles) to move and providing 100 km (62 miles) of range with a tiny 6 kWh battery that can be charged at home.
The car is advertised as the safest in its segment, with a sandwich composite safety shell and energy absorbers that protect passengers in the event of a collision.
Luvly has a fill-out form on its official website but it is not clear when production of the Luvly O will begin.
