Honda is set to unveil a new urban SUV for emerging markets, called the Elevate. While details are scarce, reports suggest that the Elevate will be longer than the Indonesian-spec WR-V and slightly shorter than the EU-spec HR-V, with a rumoured length between 4.2 and 4.3 metres.

Mechanically, the new SUV is thought to be related to the Honda City and may be powered by a 1.5-liter i-VTEC petrol engine, producing 119 hp (89 kW / 121 PS) and 145 Nm (107 lb-ft) of torque. The power will be transmitted to the front axle through either a six-speed manual or a CVT gearbox. To better compete with rival brands, Honda could add a self-charging hybrid variant in the future.
With competition including the Hyundai Creta / Kia Seltos, VW Taigun / Skoda Kushaq, and Suzuki Grand Vitara / Toyota Hyryder, the Honda Elevate is set to face a tough battle in the Indian market.
The official debut of the urban SUV is scheduled for June 6, with the first deliveries expected in August.
